About us
MyDolia is a small family-owned company dedicated to the artisanal production of extra virgin olive oil (D.O. Siurana) from our own olive trees. We also produce red wine (variety trepat) from our organic vineyards located in Espluga de Francolí (Spain).
What we do
We let you adopt our olive trees or vineyards. With the adoption, you will participate in the production process of your olive oil or wine through a monitoring of the agricultural works which you can follow at our website, with photographs of the entire cycle until you obtain your olive oil or wine.
This way, we intend to bring the quality of our products closer to the consumer, following the complete process of works, production and elaboration, in order to guarantee the maximum transparency of what you consume.
Where we grow
Our olive trees and vineyards are located near the old Roman road "Viae Romanae", at the plot of Creu de l'Horta. An old municipal boundary cross from the 15th century, which gave its name to an area near the Francolí river, in Espluga de Francolí (Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain), where the Cistercian monks of the Poblet monastery already had mills during the Middle Ages. Moreover, it has been an area of orchard, olive trees and vineyards, with an optimum degree of humidity, rainfall and insolation for the development of olive trees and vineyards, wich give now an excellent quality to our products.
What does MyDolia mean
MyDolia means "my jar", "my winery". The doliums were large spherical jars of about 1,000 liters, where the Romans kept oil and wine in warehouses located in their rustic villas. Near our present fields, the old Roman road (Viae Romanae) passed from Italy to Hispánia. Nerby there are still the remains of an old Roman villa, where multiple fragments of dolia have appeared.
The wine and oil produced in this area, were transported through the Roman road to the harbour of Tarraco, and from there to Rome. At MyDolia we have inherited these ancient crops, which following the virtual road of MyDolia.com, can now reach your home.
